A Mid-Atlantic Sectional Bridge Tournament
D-7 STaC

Districts 7 & 10, & Unit 219

Sectional Tournament at Clubs

Monday, December 15 through Sunday, December 21

Dear Club Managers and Directors,

We invite you and your players to be a part of the huge upcoming STAC for Districts 7, 10 and Unit 219. Proceeds from the tournament will be used to defray costs of entertainment during the upcoming NABC in Atlanta.

This is an opportunity for your players to wins heaps and heaps of silver points at their favorite local clubs. There is an entire week of competition with three separate sessions Monday through Saturday (morning, afternoon and evening), and two separate sessions on Sunday (afternoon and evening). With many clubs participating, overall winners frequently receive as many as 15 or more silver points for one game!

This is a "shuffle-and-play" event. About 7 days before the tournament begins I will e-mail all participating clubs the instructions for starting games with hand records, entering event codes, computer set-up, and reporting games.

Open Pair Events must be stratified using the following ranges:

A = 1500+ B = NLM - 1500 C = 0 - NLM (up to 500 points, but MUST be a NLM)

District regulations for STACs now require a minimum game size of ten pairs for inclusion in the open overall rankings. Games smaller than 5 tables will receive an 80% sectional ranking in stand-alone sections. Invitational games (as in country club games restricted to members) can be a part of the championship event if you are willing to accept all players for that particular session and advertise as such. You can also participate, keeping your invitational status, but your players will only be able to earn points at an 80% level of sectional rating.

We highly encourage you to include your intermediate and novice games as part of the STAC. These are the very players who may be actively seeking their silver points. You are also welcome to run Swiss Team or Board-A-Match events any time during the week. I/N games and team events will be scored as stand-alone games not eligible for district-wide comparisons. I/N games and team events may be stratified at the club manager’s or club director’s discretion.

Registration is simple. Include the following information in an e-mail to me at boomboys@mindspring.com

(You must register no later than December 10th.)

*Club Name and Club #

*Unit #

*Club Manager’s Name, ACBL #, phone #, and e-mail address

*Include all sessions during which you plan to participate. Include day of week, date of month, and time of day. Also include whether the game will be open, invitational (country club, private member club), or masterpoint-restricted.

Do it now while you’re thinking about it! Registration will officially close on December 10th but those who register by December 1st will be sure to have their club listed as a participant in the STAC on the District website.

Sanction fees are $6.00 per table and will be payable to the District 7 treasurer (A report form will be e-mailed to you which will need to be included with your payment). There will be no additional charges when you do your end of the month report for ACBL. You may set any entry fee you wish.

I will be serving as Director in Charge. I can be reached at 770-530-6914 or by the email address listed.  Game results must be submitted by email (no snail mail, no phone calls) within 24 hours after the end of the game.

I’m looking forward to working with you!

Dan Plato, Director in Charge
